What is DPR Physicians?

DPR stands for "doctor-patient relationship". DPR Physicians' aim is to operate its medical clinics in a manner that faciliates optimization of the doctor-patient relationship. This approach includes limiting the number of patients each DPR physician manages (a few hundred instead of several thousand). This innovative approach allows patients unparalleled 24/7 access direct to their physician, minimal office wait times, and much more dedicated time with your personal physician.

Why the annual fee?

In order to achieve the highest standards of care, personability, access, and efficiency (the value tetrad of DPR Physicians), an annual fee is charged to each patient so that the practice may effectively limit its patient base. By doing this, patients can reap unparalleled benefits such as direct 24/7 physician access, unhurried appointments, and minimal wait times. The vast majority of patients prefer the completely predictable annual fee as opposed to widely varying fees incurred by patients of traditional physician practices. In addition, DPR Physicians provides In-Office medication dispensing to its patients, a welcome benefit for patients when ill or simply very busy. For further details on the In-Office medication dispensing program available to DPR Physicians patients, please contact us.

What is included in the annual fee?

All office visits and in-office tests and procedures, 24/7 physician access, use of the electronic patient portal are included in the annual fee. Subspecialist visits, radiological tests (xrays, CT scans, etc), hospitalizations, surgeries, etc are not included in the annual fee. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that patients retain insurance coverage for these types of services (see next section). However, it may be possible for patients to modify their existing insurance plans to better fit their needs as a DPR Physicians patient.

Is my membership fee covered by my health insurance provider or Medicare?

No. Many patients are not aware that most preventative healthcare services, direct 24/7 physician access, and other personal physician services are not services covered by most insurance providers. We encourage patients to check with their employers concerning their personal benefits. Some companies may elect to reimburse employees for a portion of the annual fee. The annual fee may also be reimbursable through cafeteria plans, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts and health reimbursement accounts. We recommend that you check with your group health provider for actual programs that may be available to you.

Do patients of DPR Physicians still require insurance?

Yes. Patients should still carry health insurance. Insurance is needed to cover medical expenses such as hospitalizations, surgeries, diagnostic tests (such as CT scans, MRI's, endoscopies, cardiovascular testing, blood work, etc), and specialist office visits and services. However, many DPR Physicians patients are able modify their insurance from a typical high premium, low deductible policy to a low premium, high deductible policy, and in doing so, actually save money using this approach.

Will I be able to reach my DPR Physician with questions and concerns?

Yes! Patients are given their physician's direct phone and email contact information, and may call any time of the day.
